Meet Our Team
Oscar Alerhand
Founding Partner
Oscar is Chief Executive Officer of Galileo Investment Management, LLC, the investment advisor of the Fund, and the Portfolio Manager of the Funds.
Prior to Galileo, from 1996 to 2005, he held several positions at Merrill Lynch. In his last assignment, he was responsible for the structuring and marketing of fixed income, credit, and currency derivatives in emerging markets. He was previously a member of the Equity Capital Markets group as head of equity and convertible origination for Latin America and co-head for the technology sector in the U.S. Prior to that, from 1994 to 1996, he was a member of the Equity Derivatives/Structured Products group at Morgan Stanley.
Before his career in Wall Street, Oscar was a member of the physical sciences research group at Bell Communications Research, where he conducted basic research in semiconductor physics, photonics, and the theory of chaos. He published more than 50 research articles in scientific journals. Oscar has been a board member of Qualitas for Life Foundation and of AJC New York, for which he was Treasurer from 2010 to 2015.
Oscar holds a Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Pennsylvania and was a post-doctoral fellow at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
David Alerhand
Founding Partner
David is a member of the Investment and Risk Committees of Galileo and of its Executive Board. In 2003, together with Ruben Goldberg, he founded Goldberg, Alerhand & Associates, a boutique investment banking firm specializing in advisory work for companies and family businesses, as well as for cross-border merger and acquisitions and investment advisory. From 2000 to 2003, David was Director of Deutsche Bank Mexico where he was responsible for developing the investment banking practice of the bank in the region. Prior to that, from 1992 to 1999, he was Director in NM Rothschild & Sons (México), where he was responsible for origination and execution of a wide range of projects in the areas of mergers and acquisitions, privatizations, placements of private equity, and restructurings. From 1989 to 1992, he was a consultant at McKinsey & Co.
David has taught courses in Economics and Corporate Finance Professor as an invited Professor at ITAM and at Universidad Anáhuac in México City. He has served as a board member in various private sector companies, financial entities and education institutions.
David graduated summa cum laude from ITAM (México) with a degree in Economics, participated in an exchange program at the University of Pennsylvania, and graduated with an MBA from the Booth School of Business at the University of Chicago.
Ruben Goldberg
Founding Partner
Ruben is Chairman of the Advisory Board of Galileo and member of its Investment and Risk Committees.
In 2003, together with David Alerhand, he founded Goldberg, Alerhand & Associates, a boutique investment banking firm specializing in advisory work for companies and family businesses, as well as for cross-border merger and acquisitions and investment advisory. From 1999 to 2003, Ruben was CEO and Vice Chairman of the Board of Republic National Bank (México). After Republic National Bank was acquired by HSBC, Ruben continued as the Vice Chairman and CEO for Investment Banking. From 1984 to 1998, he was the representative in México and a non-executive member of the board of NM Rothschild & Sons Ltd. (London) and the Head and President of NM Rothschild & Sons (México).
During the period 1981 to 1984, he served as Representative of Wells Fargo Bank, N.A. (México). Prior to that, from 1974 to 1981, Ruben held various positions in the Corporate Banking division of Bank of America (México). Ruben currently serves as a board member in various private sector companies, financial entities and philanthropic institutions.
Ruben graduated summa cum laude from the National University of México with a Public Accountant Degree and holds an MBA in Finance from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania (Fulbright-Hayes Scholar).
Luis Fernando Ramirez
Head of Business Development
Luis Fernando joins Galileo Investments as Head of Business Development to lead our international growth and expansion.
He has built a broad global experience after holding several leadership positions in Europe, the US, Mexico, Central and South America. As a Business Consultant and co-owner has collaborated in various projects in Panama, Costa Rica, and Colombia. Worked as CEO at Wastefuel, a US company revolutionizing mobility and addressing climate change by transforming waste into renewable fuels. Was Executive VP for RCN TV in Colombia, a leading media network. Held a 23-year career at The Coca-Cola Company as Region VP in the US, managing the 14 western states, was Global Marketing and Commercial VP for BPW, a JV between Nestle and Coca-Cola in Europe, Innovation Director and Marketing in Mexico, Marketing VP for 33 countries in Northern South America, Central America, and the Caribbean as well as Group Brand Manager in Colombia. Also worked at Gillette (P&G) for 4 years in Engineering, Product Development and Marketing.
Luis Fernandeo is an Industrial Engineer from Universidad Javeriana and holds a graduate degree in Marketing at Universidad ICESI in Colombia.
Marc LeFebvre
Independent Board Member
Marc is an Independent Board Member while serving on the Risk Committees of Galileo and of its Executive Board.
In 2009 he founded LEVeL Advisory s.à.r.l., a privately owned advisory company that serves as a professional independent director in regulated and non-regulated Luxembourg vehicles. Its mission is to structure the activities of its clients and provide advice in the field of compliance, risk management, corporate governance and internal organization.
Marc served as the Director of Investment Management at Glitnir Bank Luxembourg S.A. from July 2007 to December 2008. He was employed as the Compliance Officer of Investment Funds for Nordea Bank S.A. from 2004 to 2007. Marc was a Senior Auditor at Pricewaterhouse Coopers from September 2001 to November 2001.
Marc is part of the very first Certified Directors from ILA (Institut Luxembourgeois des Administrateurs – Luxembourg Institutes of Directors).
Marc is a graduate of Hautes Etudes Commerciales (H.E.C.) - Liege (Belgium) with a Master's in Economics with a focus on Analysis, Control and Audit. He also graduated from the Institut de Formation Bancaire as a Certified Director, Certified Compliance Officer and Senior Fund Specialist.
Nalini Singh
Chief Compliance Officer
Nalini is Chief Compliance Officer at Galileo. Prior to joining Galileo in 2005, Nalini held roles in accounting, operations and compliance at Mountain Lake Investment Management and Katahdin Capital, LLC. Nalini earn a B.S. in Business Administration from New Jersey City University.
Jonathan Alerhand
Principal
Jonathan joined Galileo in January 2007. Jonathan is our Senior Analyst and performs due diligence and new manager identification on hedge funds across various strategies. He is part of our Investment Committee. Jonathan graduated from Lafayette College with a bachelor’s degree.
